Retail and Dining Evolution - Part Seven: A Further Look into Emerging Districts

December 23, 2024

Downtown Fort Lauderdale is evolving, with neighborhoods like the TREDD District blending local charm and modern living. Home to spots like The Fitz Bar and Wells Coffee and exciting new developments like Rivr Lofts, TREDD is set to become a vibrant hub for community and culture.

Rising 29 stories above the New River, Rivr Lofts brings modern living to the heart of TREDD, surrounded by Fort Lauderdale’s iconic landmarks.
TREDD will fuel a very special kind of live, work, play atmospherics that will appeal to locals and people looking to invest here, move here, and be part of something special,” noted DDA Board Member Stephanie Toothaker.

Located south of the New River, the recently coined Tarpon River Entertainment and Design District (TREDD) is emerging as a unique downtown neighborhood that serves the growing resident base and adjacent neighborhoods from Rio Vista to Poinciana Park and Tarpon River.  An eclectic set of businesses have come to find the district home, anticipating the foot traffic that will come when new residential projects come online over the next few years. With projects like Rivr Lofts set to be completed this year, Raintree Riverwalk Residences breaking ground soon, and both Nautica Residences and Art Haus in the works, TREDD will soon be home to a burgeoning residential population, supporting a dynamic retail, dining, and bar scene.

Coming soon to TREDD: Nautica Hotel & Residences, a transformative three-tower project spanning 3.82 acres in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
“We are proud to have personally curated local businesses such as The Fitz Bar, Wells Coffee, Hair Circus & The Wine Shop to help create a cool yet local atmosphere. We emphasize local business owners and believe this creates a special atmosphere with a real collective identity that is unique to TREDD.” said Moderno Development’s Doron Broman.

These local watering holes have created a genuine Fort Lauderdale experience. “I was inspired by my travels throughout the country to create an authentic neighborhood bar for Fort Lauderdale locals. Natives like me are inspired by concepts we see elsewhere and want to bring this sense of community to our growing downtown” explained the Fitz’s John Fitzgerald.

The Fitz brings neighborhood charm to TREDD with expertly crafted cocktails and a welcoming atmosphere—perfect for locals and visitors alike.
“The city’s growth has created an opportunity for a business like ours to succeed. We need to stay committed to cultivating Fort Lauderdale’s soul and being devoted to local businesses that bring vibrancy to people living here. We are deeply invested in providing something meaningful that will enrich the experience here,” said Brandon Wells from Wells Coffee.

What does it all mean? A new destination is on the rise south of the New River, poised to integrate the vision of local business owners in a uniquely Fort Lauderdale district.
