We’re so excited to celebrate tomorrow’s groundbreaking of Huizenga Park Reimagined, a major milestone for Downtown Fort Lauderdale on its journey to becoming one of the best places to live, work, and play in the country. We hope you can join us.
Construction will kick off this summer and is expected to last until late 2025, when Huizenga Park will reopen with more than a dozen unique outdoor rooms that will set it apart from traditional public spaces.
By The Numbers:
Programmable space will more than triple, moving the park from a passive area used only for big events to a multi-use park that will be activated 365 days a year.
Huizenga Park will become the coolest outdoor space in Fort Lauderdale by adding 88 new shade trees that will generate a 216% increase in shade.
Over 13,500 new plants will be introduced across 58 new plant species, yielding a 250% increase in biodiversity within Huizenga Park.
The section of Riverwalk by Huizenga Park will become 103% larger than it is today.
We can’t wait to build this incredible park and special gathering place for everyone, forever. They’ll be something for everybody and our vision is for Huizenga Park to become Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s iconic outdoor living room, dining room, and backyard.
